XIX Xornadas Didácticas de APIGA

Ferrol - April 3, 4, 5    2003

organiza: Universidade da Coruña

General information

Venue: Edificio de apoio ao estudio (Universidade da Coruña, Campus de Ferrol at Esteiro.)

Following what we did last year, the general reception will be held on Friday again and there will be three clear sections in workshops: primary, secondary and cultural.

Speakers

If you wish to contribute a workshop to the conference, a call for speakers is available. The deadline for proposals is December 15.

Papers presented in the conference will be published. Get in touch with the organization for details. We suggest you check the Modern Languages Association's guidelines for publication

Announcers and exhibitors

Publishing houses, bookshops, language schools and other companies wishing to collaborate with the conference can obtain information in this document. If you're sending a speaker, fill in this form.

Attendees

APIGA members will receive a brochure with information on the conference in February.

Should you need a place to stay, our travel agency for this event is Viajes Paco. Feel free to phone or write to them; alternatively, you can download a list of available accomodation.

Conference programme

A preview of the programme is available already on the net. Click here to find out who the participants this year are. Apart from the traditional workshops, in this edition we'll offer shorter paper presentations (indicated by a time duration).

You can also use this page to design your own programme. Just select which sessions you would like to attend and print it.

Directions to the Campus de Esteiro, Ferrol

After you cross the long, but narrow, bridge into Ferrol (As Pías), take the third exit off the main road. You will see signs for the Port. At the end of the sliproad, turn left, go straight on and you will come to a roundabout with a huge "tuning fork" in the middle.

Go round the roundabout and take the first exit. You will need to move over to the left lane to take the second on the left (watch out, the first is to enter the military base).

Go straight on until the stop sign (by the big Bazán gate), then turn right. This is the avda. de Vigo. The Apoio ó Estudio (AOE) building is the one with frosted glass panels on the outside (it looks like a UFO), on your left, at the nearest corner of the Campus, opposite the CEIP Esteiro, home of the Museo do Xogo Tradicional (to which our participants can sign up for guided tours via a volunteer conference steward).

We have permission to let people unloading heavy objects enter the campus grounds with their cars so that they don´t have to go onto the pavement. This is especially important for publisher reps, so they've been given the okay. Please let the organisation know if anyone else needs to do this so that the Security Guards can be informed.

Plan of the Campus

There is disabled access, with lifts as well.

There´s good parking behind the primary school. Otherwise, skirt around the campus and look around.

Tea Time/Refreshments
Catering de Caranza, who are our resident caterers on the Campus, will provide this after the opening plenary. They will also sell refreshments from a trolley at breaktimes and do a special lunch on Friday, putting out chairs and tables on the Campus if the weather´s good (fingers crossed). A new bar has just opened on the corner and we´re coming to an arrangement about a special for our participants.
Social event - Friday night reception

Participants are invited to this traditional reception, which will start at 9.30 at

Hotel Enrique I / Sala Monforte
Avda. da Paz, esquina estrada de Castela
(fifteen minutes' walk from the Campus)

Directions: It's between the main entrance to Ferrol and the Praza de España, on your right as you go towards town. You can park on the street. Warning: the Praza de España is closed to traffic.
