This is it. This year's Xornadas are over. We hope you have enjoyed them. Here are some pictures we took (are you there?). If you want to contact APIGA now, don't hesitate to write an e-mail to info@apiga.org.
You can now download the brochure (text, covers). Last-minute changes will be posted at the bottom of this page.
From cultural backgrounds to multiple intelligences and learning styles: diversity has been dealt with exhaustively in terms of the learner. Of course, it made sense to shift the focus from teacher to pupil as we contemplated the language learning process.
Now we'd like to shift again so that the teacher is back in the spotlight. This is an opportunity to ask what makes us unique as language teaching professionals and how, over the years, we have developed as individuals as well as practitioners. Our plenary sessions will cover topics of general interest that span Infant, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, while the workshops will handle more specialist areas related to a certain sector. Our aim is to discover how we as an association can support its members in terms of professional development in the broadest sense, tackling areas like balancing work and family, fostering creativity and re-injecting zest into our professional life.
Not that the Xornadas will be all work and no play. Because we are promoting a holistic approach to our development, there will be time over this residential weekend to pamper ourselves in a spa, enjoy some lovely food and have a laugh at the pub quiz and theatre sessions. Most of all, we are offering participants the chance to get together with colleagues and friends in a relaxed setting.
Have a look at the general outline as we build it and take a moment to register. You can also visit the website of Hotel Carlos I, our venue this year, or revisit the websites for last years' xornadas.
APIGA invites you to enjoy the amenities offered by the Carlos I spa. All participants in the Xornadas are entitled to use the spa's dynamic pool at least one time. In order to do so, you should bring your swimming atire (googles, flip-flops,...) and reserve on time (we don't want 200 people splashing around at the same time!). You should phone the hotel (986 727036), tell them you're attending the Xornadas and reserve the time that suits you best from 10:30 to 14:30 and 16:00 to 21:30
Besides, you can also use other alternative therapies, such as thermal circuits, aesthetics cabins, massages, hidrotherapy baths, etc. etc. The price is not included in the Xornadas, though.
New session: "Looking after yourself", by Hermano Julio, Maristas, Santiago:
We will arrange a practical session for those of you who would like a practical introduction to relaxation and stress. You will leave with techniques that you can apply in your classrooms to produce a more positive synergy in you classroom. Arrive at the gym in comfortable clothes.
