In the centre of Galicia, surrounded by a magnificent grove in the heart of the valley of the Deza river, the Hotel Oca Katiuska is located next to the Semana Verde International Fair Grounds, at 20 minutes from Santiago de Compostela. A five storey tower with great views to the countryside, a full spa resort and the possibility of lots of open air activities: horseriding, quads, hiking around the touristic sights of the area such as the Monastery of Carboeiro and the Toxa waterfalls.

The venue for this edition is an amazing hotel in the heart of Galicia, within an easy reach from nearly any major city. The Hotel Oca Katiuska stands in the middle of an oak wood with amazing views of the Deza valley. It is a quiet place where you can enjoy nature to the hilt: a relaxing bath at the spa looking at the surrounding green; outdoor activities such as hiking, horse riding and quads; and of course, modern , brand new facilities that will help make the Xornadas an unforgettable weekend.

As usual, we have tried to balance hard work and leisure. We will maintain the usual structure of a weekend, which grants us 15 certified working hours of star plenaries, workshops and more informal activities such as theatre and dancing.

There will be the chance to check out new trends in ESL publications at the stands of the major publishing houses. We will also count on top speakers such as Tom Maguire, Magaly Villaroel, Sarah Phillips and collaboration from the British Council and Pilgrim´s. And we have contributions from Galician teachers, who want to share their classroom projects with us from primary, secondary and ESP levels.

“Side by side” is this year's motto. This phrase conveys many images: collaboration, support and joint efforts. It could be about subject specialists working alongside the English teacher to try out Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in a school- wide project.

Or it could mean ways of moving across sectors within teaching or getting students to help each other in collaborative learning activities. A pleasant surprise is how the phrase ties in with this year's entertainment: country line dancing, in English of course.

It's CLIL in action, so get your boots on!
